Colgate
Headquartered in New York, Colgate-Palmolive Company is an American diversified company that manufactures and distributes commercial and household cleaning products, dental and other personal care essentials in the United States and in more than 200 other countries worldwide.
Colgate-Palmolive's history dates back to the early 19th century when William Colgate, a soap and candle maker, began selling his wares in New York City under the name William Colgate & Company. After his death in 1857, the company was run by his son, Samuel Colgate, under the new name Colgate & Company. In 1890 Madison University in Hamilton, New York, was renamed Colgate University in recognition and acknowledgement of the Colgate family's longtime financial support. The current corporate name was adopted in 1953.
Colgate Malaysia
In Malaysia, the Colgate School Program was launched in 1965 in collaboration with the Ministry of Education with the sole purpose of creating awareness and education of proper oral hygiene amongst young school children. Over the last 41 years, Dental Health Kits consisting of Colgate toothbrush and toothpaste have been distributed to more than 12 million primary school students to supplement educational efforts on oral health care by teachers and dental nurses from the Ministry of Health. Students were educated on the importance of maintaining proper oral and dental care. These events were supplemented by free dental check-ups and brushing tutorials organized and conducted by government dental nurses in order to achieve the goal of keeping their teeth healthy for life.
Colgate products can be found in almost every if not all pharmacies, supermarkets, and convenience stores. From the standard Maximum Cavity Protection line to even the Optic White, you can find tubes of them in many different sizes.
Colgate Toothpaste
Colgate sold the first-ever toothpaste in a tube, the Colgate Ribbon Dental Cream, in 1896. As of now, they have a wide selection of lines which are Colgate Total, Optic White, 360, Sensitive Pro-Relief, and the Maximum Cavity Protection which you would be quite familiar with and are a staple in every pharmacy.
According to a 2015 report and survey by market research firm Kantar Worldpanel, Colgate is the only brand in the world purchased by more than half of all households and has a global market penetration of 67.7% and a global market share of 45%. Despite this, it maintained the highest growth rate of all brands in the survey, with 40 million new households purchasing the brand's products in 2014.
